No Wind Today

A Day of Exploring There will be the odd day when there is no wind at all. This then gives us the opportunity to take some time out from sailing. A Day of Exploring lies ahead. We set out as usual after breakfast and motor to our next island. Rather than pull into a bay and drop anchor we go direct to the small harbour and moor up to the quayside.

What’s on offer.

Each island has something different to offer. This day we were able to swim off the back of the yacht and get to the other side of the harbour.  Once there there was a smashing walk up and over the hill and down to a delightful hamlet of cottages. A small but adequate Taverna provided us with lunch.  Some went exploring further and others returned to the yacht. Back for a swim to cool off and some relaxation up on deck. The skipper managed to have an afternoons kip.

The next day

It had been a warm day in August and we had not had a very good wind at any time that day or the day before. We therefore decided that we would spend just a short time motoring to this beautiful bay on the island of Megganessy. Here we anchored and after some time spent in the water most of us went ashore in Lulu and explored the island. We managed to walk around much of the island and never met a soul on our journey. We did however meet a few goats and plenty of huge spider webs that crisscrossed the paths. All the paths were created by the goats over many centuries of use.
